“Do you want to take your planets with you? They may not have a place that they will stick to, but at least you could see them and think about them.”
Declan looked thoughtfully at his magnet planets stuck to the washing machine.
“No. I am going to leave them here so every time you guys see them, you will think of me.”
Well, it worked.
Every time I was in the laundry room, I thought of Declan.
I should even clarify. It wasn’t even the LAUNDRY room anymore.
It was the PLANET room. And yes, every time I thought of Declan.
It wasn’t just there. I thought of him as I sat expecting to hear the squeak of his trampoline as he jumps.
I expect to see him every night and every morning on his little bed next to mine.
Really, since Declan HATES to be alone, I expect to see him beside me everywhere I go.
But he wasn’t next to me. He was at camp. And thanks to the pictures his counselor sent throughout the week, I could see Declan had a really great time.
It really did take us a while to accept Declan’s absence. We were so nervous and checked his schedule everyday to see what he was doing at that time, just wondering and hoping he was having a great time.
The big kids had their regular schedule, and my husband had his work – but three of us were able to get out and see The Lion King one night.
And although my husband and I were trying for a whole day together with Declan away, we just couldn’t swing it with the big kids schedule. BUT we did get to go out to a movie on our own and saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (and although I spent a good five minutes with my eyes covered because of the graphic nature brought to me in true Tarantino fashion – I loved the end!)
Overall, I would say Declan had a great time experiencing new things, making new friends while he was away from us. And although we had a hard time adjusting to his absence, I think Declan had a good time, and the family would try another camp again when he was ready!
And of course we were SO excited to see him, my family had a celebratory cake for him when he got home 🙂 A great way to close out an awesome week away!
That’s fantastic for all!
I agree – so happy! 🙂
So pleased you got out at least for a movie. Would love to see what Tarantino does to a Star Trek movie – so want that to happen. I bet your pleased to have the big fella back. Sounds like it’s been a positive few days. Such wonderful photos.
Yes, so happy to have him here. I’m typing, he’s jumping. As glad as I am that we all had this experience, I am equally happy that my world has been restored 🙂
That smile! I have pictures of Ben with that same smile that isn’t really a smile. It’s so funny. That’s great that they sent you pictures. Ben’s teacher does that for us.
I’m glad he had fun. I’m sure you’re relieved to have him back home. Its tough when they’re away not matter how old they get.
By this time next week you’ll be counting down the days until school starts😂 I know I will. Ben has one week left until his three week break.
His counselor would send pictures around 4:30 every day when the campers had “Golden hour” (aka time with their devices 🙂 ). It was my favorite time of day last week 🙂 So happy he is home. I am typing and he is jumping on his trampoline. Everything is back as it should be. Haha! I know what you mean. I probably will! One month to go!
Aww he looks like he really enjoyed everything, phew 😅 I’m pleased he’s home though 😁 Next time he goes to camp I won’t worry. 😉
It was so good to see the pictures of his smiling face and know he was having a good time. Even better to see his face here now 🙂
I bet it’s great to have him home, we obviously worried about him when we didn’t need to 😉 🥰😘
That’s true! P.S. Love your new profile picture 🙂
Brought a tear to my eye for some reason…
So glad he had a great time at camp.
Thank you so much, Jerry!
So glad it was a good experience! My boy is away at camp for the first time, too, this week.
How exciting! Hope you both have a great week!
So awesome!
Thank you!
That’s fantastic. What a huge step for you all…and by the looks of the pictures…a massively successful one.
It really is nice because you truly can feel how much you care and love your family through your words…every single time you write.
Glad you got a bit of time to chill and watch a movie.
I’m currently sat at home trying to choose one to watch. I keep hovering over once upon a time. Do you recommend it?
✌️❤️
Thank you, Lee! I do! The acting is really good in it – but it took practically the whole movie to figure out who I was rooting for. Then end was fantastic – and I realized who I was rooting for all along. Hope you enjoy it if you choose that one! 🙂
I’m going to save it for Friday night! Just saw the run time and I’ll fall asleep if I start it now! Defo will look forward to watching it.
I’m glad that he had such a great time!
Thank you!
So happy Declan enjoyed himself 🙂
Thank you!
