Another week of quarantine, another post of weekly photos.
We’ve developed a nice routine each day. Bob “leaves” for work at 8AM and heads down the basement. Gym time, waffle time, schoolwork time, ramen time, game time, drawing time, walking time, bath time, reading time and at 5PM Bob comes “home” from work. Dinner time, walk time, play outside time, TV/movie time, bed time. Fill in any gaps with YouTube time and trampoline time.
And entertainment.
Declan and Catelyn have taken a great bit of time putting on performances for us. They lip sync songs to a lacrosse stick, wear special outfits for each performance and dance around.
Very entertaining.
To really get the “movie theater” experience, they have closed off our TV room for movies. When the movie starts they will come in with sunglasses on and take our drink and snack orders.
Declan even went as far as drawing an actual movie projector to put on the couch behind or heads.
Major development this week. With all the HOURS Bobby has been sleeping, it appears he grew and is now taller than Bob. Bob now compensates by taking all pictures standing on his tippy toes.
The dogs get tons of walks. But the one time we left them inside so we could play soccer outside, they stared us down from inside the house.
Have you ever seen Tommy Boy? Every time I walk past Molly sleeping in her new favorite chair only one song plays in my head. When Tommy sings while putting on his smaller partners suit jacket:
“Big dog on a little chair….”
While the little one snugs in her bed, hugging her favorite tennis ball.
The dogs aren’t the only one tired out from all our walks. It appeared Declan hit his limit as well. Last night, he declared he was finished walking, took off his shoes and laid down. Took a little bit, but we convinced him to come home.
Last week Declan had a Zoom meeting with his class. At first he refused to participate. He didn’t want to be “on camera.” But once he heard his classmates, he became excited and even participated with their discussion telling them his favorite part of quarantine is all our nature walks.
This week, Declan will be having another meeting with his class and a session with his speech therapist and occupational therapist on Zoom as they continue to try and follow the services outlined in his IEP. Should be interesting! So, out on one of our walks, I took a picture of Declan’s school.
I have no idea what week of quarantine this is, but I am ready and excited to see what the week ahead has in store for us!
Stay well, friends!
Good for Declan! I’m glad he joined in with his class. And WOW! Sharing his favorite thing. That’s a biggie for him.
I can totally relate to being DONE!π
My ‘little’ brother went from 5’9″ to 6’3″ during his senior year. I had already moved out by then but remember my mother complaining about buying new clothes and shoes every other month.
I’m happy to see you guys are doing well and making great memories.π
I know! The kids were all told they didn’t have to share, but if they wanted to then raise their hands and wait to be called on. I was relieved to hear he didn’t have to share after the whole battle of even signing on, and when I saw him raise his hand I was floored! (in a good way π )
He cracked me up with that! Just laid down and pulled the shoes off. DONE! π
Gosh, I can relate. It’s the shoes Bobby is blowing through. Good to be on a break I guess.
Thank you! Definitely making some good memories!
The tired dog picture made me smile as did the one with your husband on his tippy toes. Itβs great to see your family all working so hard to get through this together. And your ideas to fill each day are fun and inspiring to see. Another week down for the books! π
Thank you! Another week in the book! π
Sounds like you’re creating a creative new normal!
I think we are! The TV room/now movie room blanket hasn’t come down. I wonder what other new developments the kids will create until this is over. They’re having fun, so that’s good!
The kids are really creative, and that is great.
My hubby is struggling to get motivated
They definitely are! Catelyn drives the creative forces in this house – she is quite entertaining!
Super tired dogs. The changes will be so difficult for Declan, so pleased heβs having a go. Each week will be a new challenge.
Yeah, he has speech therapy today (and he’s fighting it). But hopefully it will go over without issue and he will get used to these online sessions.
Son started the speech therapy when he was 8. He hated it but it did him so much good. Sadly the service was cut by the Government.
Just found this one in spam π That is sad. I was really surprised what they worked on on Monday – appropriate social responses. It was cool to listen to!
This post and photos made me smile. Such positive, creative, happy things going on in your home, a welcome respite from the usual barrage of bad/sad/mad news. Thank you.
Oh good! That was what I was hoping for. Thank you!
Glad you seem to be maintaining your sanity! Love the pics!
Thank you!
We had a particularly contentious trip through the midwest and my wife was being extremely difficult. At one of the hotels, they only had small towels… so, I tried to break the tension by singing, “Fat guuuy, in a liiiittle towel”.
The boys liked it, anyway…
I just laughed out loud π
I laughed out loud about Declan lying down and being done with the walk. Brandon will tell me to go get the car half way through ours. π
Oh, that’s funny! I can relate to that!
Great to see you’re keeping busy with the home entertainment and the nature walks, Robyn! π You’re doing an amazing job keeping them all amused, and staying sane as well. Luckily for us, nature walks are a big part of what we do anyway, so at least that’s one constant in our lives at the moment. It’s funny how the days and weeks tend to blend into one, isn’t it? Still, this bizarre period in our lives will pass, and life will return to normal in time. So it’s a case of just hanging in there, and it looks as though you’re doing that very well indeed. All the best to you all. And those gorgeous dogs! π <3
Thank you so much, Alli! π
