It’s been about a month since my last WWW Wednesday so before another one passes, I’d like to catch up with one of my favorite past times.

Reading!

The Three W’s for WWW Wednesday are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently, I am reading Mudbound by Hillary Jordan.  I got a hold of this book when I was at my in-laws and we were sorting through books.  I was drawn to the book because of the little medal on the cover – those things always get me.  I am about 50 pages in, and am already enjoying the characters, relationships, story – and writing.  Excited to keep on with this one!

The first book I finished was The Life She Was Given by Ellen Marie Wiseman.  A friend of mine gave me the book saying it was a good book (with a shrug) just that the writing was a little clunky.  I agree with the writing part – sometimes I wonder if there was an editor on this thing.  And the story was interesting – until you got to the end.  And as much as I tried to skip the traumatic events, somehow a handful of words put images in my head that my sensitive brain and spirit just can’t handle.  Nope, Nuh-huh.  Nopity Nope Nope Nope.  Still can’t get those images out.  So – the book was okay.  And traumatizing.  So, how is that for a review?

Then I read the next Lisbeth Salander novel, The Girl who Takes and Eye for an Eye.  I loved the Steig Larsson Millennium series,  and continued to read even with David Lagercrantz as the author continuing this series..  Lisbeth is still an interesting character to read about, especially when anyone tries to cross paths with her as she works to solve more about her history.  And a few make the mistake in this one as well.

I just finished The Night Watch by Sarah Waters.  I love Sarah Waters novels and this one did not let down either.  The story takes place in London, where air raids are a daily event.  I loved that the story starts in 1947,  part two of the story is in 1944.  And it ends, answering all the questions that were presented by ending in 1941.  I loved the story and seeing how all the characters intertwined through the war-time years.

Well, I think it is going to be To Rise Again at a Decent Hour by Joshua Ferris.  My daughter asked for the new Babysitters Club book and so I went to the bookstore.  How could I possibly leave without one for me as well?  And this one was sitting on the $5 rack with my favorite little emblem.  And since I really enjoyed his other novel, Then We Came to the End, I don’t know – feels like a winner is ahead!

Thank you Sam at Taking on a World of Words for  WWW Wednesday – I really enjoy to share and to read what others are reading!

    1. Good to hear! I am enjoying it so far – good to know it’s not going to collapse on me. I love Sarah Waters books – The Night Watch did not disappoint!

  1. I just recently read all the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. I loved them! Of course I then had to binge watch all the show, something I NEVER do. I had many, many late nights and dragging days but it was totally worth it. Great books and the show is pretty awesome too.

  2. I am still reading Once Upon A Farm by Rory Feek. I haven’t had a lot of time to read in the past week. My girl has had us on a roller coaster ride. I’m hoping to finish it this week and then start Sea Witch. Oh I can’t remember the author right now.

    1. My favorite book by Sarah Waters is Fingersmith. I also really liked The Little Stranger (which I just learned is in theaters now). I’ll check it out!

  3. I’m still behind on the Millennium continuation! I want to read them, just haven’t found the time. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

      1. I am about halfway through it, I’d be done with it except I’ve overcommitted on NetGalley… so I have a few books to read first! It’s really entertaining, I love Eleanor’s character!

  4. Women Fire and Other Dangerous Things, a book on category theory. Previously, an Agatha Christie mystery. Next up is Robbie Yates Daniel Daniels and the Worlds Worst Zoo, because he’s a fellow WordPressant…
